Personal Reserve is the cigar Carlos Fuente Sr. kept for himself: the Senior Blend, a recipe that evolved over the years as his own taste changed. Arturo Fuente released it to retailers to honour his eightieth birthday, under the script The Man's 80th. We keep it at our Downtown Dubai cigar house as a quieter, more personal chapter of the Don Carlos story, and one of the more unusual Arturo Fuente cigars in Dubai.
Profile: Medium body; strength not published by the maker
Flavour Notes: Caramel, vanilla, pepper and spice, a hint of citrus, then cedar.
How It Smokes: The first third is smooth and medium-bodied, opening on caramel and vanilla with pepper at the edges and a faint citrus note in the background. Through the middle, spice moves forward while the caramel holds its place. In our reading the final third turns woodier, with cedar arriving beside the pepper and the sweetness fading to a drier close. The robusto shape keeps the draw relaxed and the smoke full on the palate.
Blend Details: Made at Tabacalera A. Fuente in the Dominican Republic. Arturo Fuente describes Don Carlos as a Cameroon-wrapped blend of vintage tobaccos; the Personal Reserve follows the Senior Blend, the patriarch's own cigar, and the company does not publish its binder and filler.
