Cohiba marked its fifty-fifth year in 2021 with the 55 Aniversario, a wide 57 ring cigar rolled in the Victoria format and listed by Habanos among its Limited Editions. It is one of the scarcer Cohibas on our shelves, and a collector's choice for anyone building a selection of cuban cigars in Dubai at our Downtown Dubai cigar house.
Profile: Medium (Habanos rating: Medium)
Flavour Notes: Nut, cappuccino, white pepper, leather, roasted aromas and roasted coffee, as published by Cigars Lover.
How It Smokes: The first third opens on nut and a cappuccino softness, with white pepper and a thread of leather underneath. Through the middle, the pepper sharpens and trades places with a chilli-like warmth, while roasted notes deepen the nuttiness over a lightly sweet base with a touch of acidity. The final third keeps the pepper and leather, lets the nut recede, and closes on roasted coffee as the strength climbs from medium toward medium to full. The broad ring keeps the draw full and cool across its 150 mm.
Blend Details: Cohiba is rolled by hand at the El Laguito factory in Havana, with leaves drawn from vegas in San Juan y Martínez and San Luis in Vuelta Abajo, Pinar del Río. It is the only Habanos brand in which the seco and ligero leaves go through an additional fermentation. The 55 Aniversario is presented in boxes of 10.
