The Siglo I Tubos is the same 102 mm Perla from Cohiba's Línea 1492, sealed in an aluminium tube that protects it on the move. A pack of three suits travel, the golf bag or a gift, giving a portable way to carry cuban cigars in Dubai from our Downtown Dubai cigar house.
Profile: Medium (Habanos rating: Medium)
Flavour Notes: Oak, hazelnut, honey and cured tobacco in a rich, creamy smoke, as published by Cigar Aficionado (October 2024) for the Siglo I.
How It Smokes: Our reading follows the Siglo I it carries. The first third is creamy and rich, oak and hazelnut out front. In the middle, honey-like sweetness rounds the wood, and the final third settles on cured tobacco, savoury and deeper. The tube keeps the cigar in condition between humidor and lighter, so the medium-strength Línea 1492 profile arrives as intended, concentrated by the narrow 40 ring across its short length.
Blend Details: Cohiba is rolled by hand at the El Laguito factory in Havana, with leaves drawn from vegas in San Juan y Martínez and San Luis in Vuelta Abajo, Pinar del Río. It is the only Habanos brand in which the seco and ligero leaves go through an additional fermentation. Línea 1492, launched in 1992 for the fifth centenary of Columbus's arrival in Cuba, carries a medium strength. The tubos presentation holds the cigar in an aluminium tube.
