Siglo IV is the Corona Gorda of Cohiba's Línea 1492, 143 mm at 46 ring, a size many Havana smokers reach for when they want a full hour with a cigar. We hold it in packs of 5 at our Downtown Dubai cigar house, among the premium cigars in Dubai that reward a longer evening.
Profile: Medium (Habanos rating: Medium)
Flavour Notes: Salted caramel, nougat, honeyed nuts and dried cherry, as published by Cigar Insider (May 2023).
How It Smokes: The first third opens on salted caramel, a sweet and savoury start over a smooth draw. Through the middle, nougat and honeyed nuts build a rounder, confectionery character. The final third brings a dried cherry tartness that lifts the sweetness and lengthens the finish. Habanos rates the line medium, and the 46 ring lets the flavours develop gradually across the full 143 mm.
Blend Details: Cohiba is rolled by hand at the El Laguito factory in Havana, with leaves drawn from vegas in San Juan y Martínez and San Luis in Vuelta Abajo, Pinar del Río. It is the only Habanos brand in which the seco and ligero leaves go through an additional fermentation. Línea 1492, launched in 1992 for the fifth centenary of Columbus's arrival in Cuba, carries a medium strength.
