Siglo VI is the broadest of the Siglo cigars, a 150 mm Cañonazo at 52 ring, and it was the vitola Cohiba chose in 2009 for the very first Habanos Gran Reserva. We keep it in boxes of 10 at our boutique, a centrepiece among cuban cigars in Dubai.
Profile: Medium (Habanos rating: Medium)
Flavour Notes: Sweet wood, nut, bread, soft pepper, mint and coffee, as published by Cigar Obsession.
How It Smokes: The first third is naturally sweet wood around a nutty core, with a brief note of bread and a soft pepper that lingers between draws. The middle keeps that profile steady, sweet wood and nut carrying the smoke with a grassy edge. In the final third a bright, airy mint appears near the band before a heavier mix with coffee takes over, and strength rises to medium at the nub. Reviewers describe flawless construction and a solid ash.
Blend Details: Cohiba is rolled by hand at the El Laguito factory in Havana, with leaves drawn from vegas in San Juan y Martínez and San Luis in Vuelta Abajo, Pinar del Río. It is the only Habanos brand in which the seco and ligero leaves go through an additional fermentation. Línea 1492, launched in 1992 for the fifth centenary of Columbus's arrival in Cuba, carries a medium strength.
