Fifteen years after Ernesto Perez-Carrillo and his family opened their own company, they marked the date with a single, limited Gran Toro. It joins the premium cigars in Dubai that we keep at our Downtown Dubai cigar house, and it is one of the few E.P. Carrillo releases built around such long-aged leaf.

Flavour Notes: Published reviews mention anise, black pepper, clove, coffee, earth, toasted bread, peanut, oak and cinnamon, with a chocolate and fudge-like sweetness on the retrohale.
How It Smokes: In our reading, the first third opens on anise and black pepper over clove and a dry earthiness, with a nutty, bready layer underneath and a little milk chocolate on the retrohale. Through the middle, coffee bean and earth take the lead while toasted bread, hay and a faint herbal note fill in around them. The last third keeps coffee and earth at the centre, adds cinnamon and oak, and the retrohale grows sweeter and richer. Reviewers noted the burn may want an occasional touch-up, so an unhurried pace suits it.
Blend Details: The anniversary blend pairs a decade-old San Andrés wrapper with a Jalapa binder held back for fifteen years, over Nicaraguan and Dominican filler. Production was limited to 5,000 boxes of 15 cigars, released in November 2024 and rolled at Casa Carrillo in the Dominican Republic.
