The E.P. Carrillo Allegiance Toro, known as the Confidant, is the generous 6 x 52 box-pressed format of Ernesto Perez-Carrillo's Allegiance blend. An Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper covers Nicaraguan binder and filler, and for those choosing E.P. Carrillo cigars in Dubai, it gives the blend more time to open.
Profile: Medium to Full
Flavour Notes: Cedar, black pepper, cocoa, espresso, sweet baking spice and leather.
Ours begins on cedar with black pepper close behind, the pressed shape drawing smooth and even. The longer format lets the middle stretch out: cocoa first, then espresso, with sweet baking spice weaving in and out. Leather builds slowly through the last third and the pepper comes back to frame the finish. The burn stays long and steady, and the Confidant asks for an unhurried evening, well over an hour with a strong coffee or a quiet conversation.
Allegiance was blended by Ernesto Perez-Carrillo and is produced in Nicaragua by Oliva Cigar Co. The Confidant pairs its Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper with an all-Nicaraguan binder and filler, and the larger ring gives the blend a fuller, more layered character than the Robusto.
