The E.P. Carrillo Encore Valientes is the 6 1/8 x 52 Toro of Encore, the first blend the house built entirely from Nicaraguan tobacco, rolled by hand in the Dominican Republic. Among the E.P. Carrillo cigars we keep in Dubai, it is the Encore size with a little more ring, which gives its Colorado wrapper a rounder, more generous draw.
Profile: Medium
Flavour Notes: Oak, tea, caramel sweetness and a tangy citrus edge.
Ours opens on dry oak with a light, tea-like quality that keeps the first third clean and composed. Toward the middle a caramel sweetness fills in, and the fuller ring carries it with a rounder, softer smoke than the slimmer Encore sizes. In the final third a tangy citrus note brightens the palate, so the finish never settles into wood alone. It is a medium-bodied cigar for an unhurried evening, refined from the first light to the band.
Encore is Ernesto Perez-Carrillo's first all-Nicaraguan blend. A Colorado shade Nicaraguan wrapper dresses a Nicaraguan binder and filler drawn from three growing regions, Estelí, Condega and Jalapa, and every cigar is handmade in the Dominican Republic. Valientes is the line's 6 1/8 x 52, where the wider ring adds a touch of body while the blend keeps its balance. See the full house range in our E.P. Carrillo collection.
