The E.P. Carrillo Essence Honduras Toro gives the third Essence blend room to stretch out. Made in Honduras with the Plasencia family and dressed in Honduran OSA leaf, this 6 x 52 is a medium-bodied choice among the E.P. Carrillo cigars we hold in Dubai, longer and fuller than the Robusto.
Profile: Medium
Flavour Notes: Dark chocolate, espresso, oak, earth and pepper.
Ours begins with dark chocolate over a quiet layer of earth, smooth and unhurried. The added length lets espresso build gradually through the middle third, with oak giving it structure. The smoke stays medium and even in weight, never heavy. Pepper appears in the last third, a gentle accent that sharpens the finish while the chocolate lingers. A Toro for an evening when the cigar sets the pace.
The Essence Series gives each blend a different wrapper to showcase. Essence Honduras is the third, and the first made away from Casa Carrillo: it is produced at the Plasencia family's Tabacos de Oriente factory in Honduras, in collaboration with the Plasencias. A Honduran OSA wrapper from Olancho San Agustín covers a Honduran binder and a filler of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos. The Toro lets those flavours develop across a longer smoke.
