The E.P. Carrillo Essence Maduro Gordo is the 6 x 60 of the Maduro blend in the Essence Series, a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over Honduran and Nicaraguan tobacco, made at Casa Carrillo in the Dominican Republic. Among the E.P. Carrillo cigars in Dubai, it is a dark, generous smoke that stays medium in body.
Profile: Medium
Flavour Notes: Coffee, dark chocolate, sugar dust and black pepper.
Ours gives earth, chocolate and a hint of raisin before it is even lit. The first third brings coffee forward, broad and smooth through the 60 ring, with dark chocolate close behind. A fine dusting of sweetness, like sugar on cocoa, sits on the lips. Black pepper threads in through the middle without taking over. Toward the end the smoke picks up a campfire note, a dark and fitting close to a dark cigar.
The Essence Series gives each blend a different wrapper to showcase, and this one is built around Mexican San Andrés leaf. It covers a Honduran binder and Nicaraguan filler, and the cigar is made at Casa Carrillo in the Dominican Republic. The Gordo is the widest of the three sizes. Find the full range in our E.P.
