The E.P. Carrillo Maduro Toro takes the Essence Series Maduro blend into a longer 6 x 52 frame. San Andrés Maduro leaf over Honduran and Nicaraguan tobacco gives a medium, rounded smoke with more time to develop, a measured choice among the Dominican cigars in our Downtown Dubai humidor.
Profile: Medium
Flavour Notes: Dark chocolate, espresso, baking spice, roasted earth and cedar.
Ours opens with cocoa and a gentle roast, the dark wrapper adding a touch of sweetness. Over the first third baking spice and cedar take shape, and the wider ring keeps the draw easy and cool. The extra length lets the middle open out: espresso, roasted earth and chocolate in slow rotation. In the last third the spice and cedar return and the finish becomes a little drier. It is a cigar for a long conversation or a quiet evening on the terrace once the heat of the day has passed.
The Essence Series from E.P. Carrillo gives each blend its own wrapper. This Maduro edition is rolled at Casa Carrillo in the Dominican Republic, with a Mexican San Andrés Maduro wrapper over a Honduran binder and Nicaraguan filler, tuned for a medium, rounded body.
