The E.P. Carrillo Essence Sumatra Robusto is the classic 5 x 50 of the debut Essence blend, crafted at Casa Carrillo around an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. For anyone new to E.P. Carrillo cigars in Dubai, it is a clear, balanced introduction, medium in body and wrapper-forward from the first draw.
Profile: Medium
Flavour Notes: Almond, coffee, white pepper and a touch of sweetness.
Ours opens with almond and a hint of sweetness, the Sumatra wrapper close to the palate in this size. Coffee builds through the middle third, and the double binder keeps the body rounded and composed. The smoke stays medium and smooth, with nothing harsh along the way. White pepper surfaces near the end, a crisp note that leaves the finish clean. A Robusto that shows the whole character of the blend in a shorter sitting.
Essence Sumatra is the blend that began the Essence Series, a line in which each cigar is designed around its wrapper. Here an Ecuadorian Sumatra leaf sits over a double binder of Nicaraguan and Honduran tobacco and a filler of Nicaraguan and Dominican leaf, handcrafted at Casa Carrillo in the Dominican Republic. The Robusto brings the wrapper's character to the front. Explore the house in our E.P. Carrillo collection.
