Carrillo La Historia E-III is the longest size of La Historia, Ernesto Perez-Carrillo's tribute to his mother and his daughter, a 6 7/8 x 54 with a dark Mexican wrapper, rolled in the Dominican Republic. Flavour Notes: Cocoa and coffee, spice and earth, with a subtle sweet finish.
Ours opens on cocoa and a dry, earthy spice, the Mexican leaf dark and oily under the fingers. Coffee joins early and the two run together through the first third. The middle settles into a deeper, rounder register, earth underneath, spice kept in proportion. Near the end a quiet sweetness rises and lingers on the palate after each draw. The length gives the blend time, and it uses all of it.
La Historia honours Ernesto Perez-Carrillo's family: the band shows his mother in the Cuban tobacco fields and his daughter in Miami. The blend pairs a Mexican wrapper with an Ecuadorian binder and Nicaraguan filler, and it is made in the Dominican Republic. The E-III is the largest of the line's sizes.
