The E.P. Carrillo La Historia El Senador is the Robusto of Ernesto Perez-Carrillo's family line, named in tribute to his father, Ernesto Carrillo Sr. Its 5 3/8 x 52 format concentrates a full-bodied Dominican blend under a dark San Andrés Maduro wrapper, a classic among the Dominican cigars we keep in Downtown Dubai.

Flavour Notes: Cocoa, dark chocolate, espresso, almond, toasted coconut and earth.
Ours begins with dark chocolate and a dry espresso note, firm from the first draw. On the first third the cocoa deepens and almond comes in alongside it, giving the smoke a nutty roundness. The Robusto size keeps everything close together, so the middle feels dense: coffee, a hint of toasted coconut, the Maduro sweetness at the edges. The final third turns earthier and longer on the finish. It is a compact cigar with real depth, well matched to an evening hour when there is less time but no wish to compromise.
La Historia is Ernesto Perez-Carrillo's family line, rolled at Tabacalera La Alianza in the Dominican Republic. A Mexican San Andrés Maduro wrapper is laid over an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and a filler of Nicaraguan and Dominican tobacco. The line was named Cigar Aficionado's #2 Cigar of the Year in 2014.
