The Gurkha Year of the Snake by Oliva is the Nicaraguan chapter of Gurkha's limited Year of the Snake collection, made by Tabacalera Oliva de Nicaragua. A 6 5/8 x 52 Toro in a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, it is a strong, collectable Gurkha cigar in Dubai.
Profile: Full
Ours carries the dark, oily San Andrés wrapper that gives the first draws a dense, almost velvety texture. The first third builds quickly, the Nicaraguan binder and filler bringing the strength forward. Through the middle the smoke is thick and the long Toro shape lets the blend breathe. The burn stays even and the ash holds well. The final third is powerful and lingering, a cigar that rewards a slow hand and a long evening.
Tabacalera Oliva de Nicaragua made this Year of the Snake for Gurkha's three-maker collection: a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan filler, made in Nicaragua and rated strong.
