Le Hoyo de San Juan revived Hoyo de Monterrey's historic Le Hoyo series when it launched in 2014, a 150 mm Geniales at 54 ring. In tubos it travels in an aluminium tube, three to a pack, a practical way to carry cuban cigars in Dubai from our Downtown Dubai cigar house to the course or the yacht.
Profile: Mild (Habanos rating: Light)
Flavour Notes: Floral sweetness, wood, graham cracker, pepper and light earth, as published by Cigar Obsession for Le Hoyo de San Juan.
How It Smokes: The first third brings floral sweetness over wood, with graham cracker and a pepper that builds and lingers on the finish. The middle keeps the floral and graham cracker notes, the smoke turning silky as the pepper returns late on each draw. In the final third the sweetness recedes into light earth with a hint of pepper. Reviewers describe an open draw and an even burn, and the body eases from medium to full at the start to medium in the middle.
Blend Details: Hoyo de Monterrey takes its name from the plantation in San Juan y Martínez, in the heart of Vuelta Abajo, whose gate still reads 'Hoyo de Monterrey. José Gener. 1860'. Every vitola is totally handmade with long filler from Vuelta Abajo leaves, and Habanos rates the brand light: delicate, aromatic and lower in strength. The tubos presentation protects the cigar in an aluminium tube.
