Brillantes was unveiled by Habanos in Hong Kong in early 2024 to welcome the Year of the Dragon, presented in a special case of 18 Habanos fitted with NFC technology that tells the story of the cigars inside. It is a rare format for cuban cigars in Dubai, and we hold it at our boutique for collectors who follow Montecristo's special productions.
Profile: Medium to full, as rated by Habanos.
Flavour Notes: Habanos' tasting note: a shiny, dark brown wrapper, excellent draw, perfect combustion and a light grey, compact ash, with a smoking time of around 40 minutes. Habanos suggests pairing with spirits such as rums and 8-year-old whiskies.
How It Smokes: Our reading draws on the Habanos tasting note. The first third shows the polish of that dark brown wrapper, with an open, easy draw and an even burn line from the start. Through the middle, the 53 ring keeps the smoke full while the light grey ash holds firm and compact. The strength reaches medium to full as the cigar moves into its final third, over a total of roughly 40 minutes. Habanos does not list individual flavours, so we describe the structure and leave the palate to you; an aged rum or a whisky of around eight years suits it well.
Blend Details: Brillantes uses the Venerables factory format, 53 ring gauge by 128 mm. Habanos describes it as an exclusive and limited edition, each cigar made totally by hand with long filler from wrapper, binder and filler leaves selected in Vuelta Abajo. It brings the Montecristo character together with the celebration of the Chinese New Year.
