How It Smokes: We read the No. 4 through the brand profile Habanos publishes. The first third is aromatic and direct, with the slim 42 ring giving a quick, even draw. The middle section settles into the familiar Montecristo balance, and strength gathers gradually towards medium to full. The final third is brisk and concentrated, as the short Marevas length keeps everything tight. Habanos has not issued a dedicated flavour note for this size, so we describe the character rather than list specific flavours.
Blend Details: The No. 4 is one of the five numbered vitolas that launched the brand in 1935 at the H. Upmann factory in Havana. Its importance led Habanos to choose it for the first Montecristo Reserva, aged three years in wrapper, binder and filler. Leaves are from Vuelta Abajo, rolled totally by hand with long filler.
