The Oliva Serie V Melanio Figurado is the 6.5 x 54 named Cigar Aficionado's Cigar of the Year for 2014, rated 96 points. A landmark among the Oliva cigars in Dubai, it sets a silky Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over aged Nicaraguan ligero.
Profile: Medium to Full
Flavour Notes: Leather, coffee, caramel, wood and pepper, closing on a creamy finish.
Ours opens at the tapered head with coffee and a fine leather note, the Sumatra wrapper giving the smoke a silky feel. As the shape widens, caramel and wood come forward and a little pepper adds lift. The middle is composed and layered, never heavy. The final third turns creamy, the signature of the Melanio, with a long finish that explains the attention this vitola has received.
Serie V Melanio carries the name of Melanio Oliva and sits at the top of the Serie V family: aged Jalapa Valley ligero and a Nicaraguan binder under a silky Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, box-pressed and rolled by hand at Tabacalera Oliva in Esteli. The tapered Figurado is the showpiece of the Melanio line, named Cigar of the Year for 2014 by Cigar Aficionado with 96 points. See more in our Oliva collection.
