Habanos singles out the Lusitanias as a signature vitola of the Partagás range, and in 2013 chose it for the brand's first Gran Reserva. At 194 mm it is a true double corona that rewards a long evening. For connoisseurs of cuban cigars in Dubai, our Downtown Dubai cigar house holds it in the box of 10.
Profile: Full, as rated by Habanos.
Flavour Notes: Habanos describes Partagás for its intense flavour, richness and aroma. The vitolario lists the Lusitanias as full strength. Vitola-specific notes are not published.
How It Smokes: We read the Lusitanias through the Partagás profile Habanos publishes. The first third is measured, the long Prominentes length giving the intense blend time to open slowly. Across the generous middle the richness builds, and the aroma grows fuller as the cigar warms. The final third reaches the full strength the brand is known for, with a long, deep finish. Habanos has not published a dedicated flavour note for this vitola, so we describe the arc rather than name individual flavours.
Blend Details: Made in the Prominentes factory format, 49 ring by 194 mm, the Lusitanias is one of the vitolas Habanos names when describing the core of Partagás. Its standing was confirmed by the Lusitanias Gran Reserva Cosecha 2007. The blend is Vuelta Abajo tobacco, made totally by hand with long filler.
