Trinidad marked its 55th anniversary in 2024 with Cabildos, a slim and long Edición Limitada that takes its name from the colonial town councils of the Villa de Santísima Trinidad. Every leaf comes from Vuelta Abajo and was aged at least two years before rolling, and the cigar is finished with the brand's pigtail cap. For collectors of cuban cigars in Dubai, it sits in our Downtown Dubai cigar house as a collectible chapter of the Trinidad story, presented in the special case of 12 Habanos designed for this release.
Profile: Medium (Habanos brand strength).
Flavour Notes: Floral opening, graham cracker, toasted almond, cocoa powder, leather and a touch of spice (Cigar Aficionado, 91 points).
How It Smokes: The first third opens on a floral note that is quick to gather weight, with a lush draw that suits the narrow 46 ring. Through the middle we read graham cracker and toasted almond, the sweetness kept in check by a dusting of cocoa powder. The final third settles into leather with a light spice at the edges, while the oily wrapper keeps the smoke smooth on the palate. Reviewers noted an early uneven burn that corrected itself, so a patient first light pays off.
Blend Details: Cabildos was presented at the first in-person Habanos World Days in London in June 2024, during the brand's 55th anniversary year. Habanos rolls it totally by hand with long filler, using wrapper, binder and filler selected from the top growers of Vuelta Abajo in Pinar del Río, all aged for a minimum of two years as the Edición Limitada programme requires. The factory vitola is Ilustres, a shape new to the Trinidad portfolio.
