Esmeralda entered the regular Trinidad portfolio in 2019 as a vitola never seen before, the Dinoras, built at 53 ring and 145 mm. It brings a fuller girth to a brand known for slender shapes, while keeping the house pigtail. For those exploring cuban cigars in Dubai, it is a modern Trinidad that our Downtown Dubai cigar house presents in the box of 12.
Profile: Medium (Habanos brand strength).
Flavour Notes: Floral impressions, wood and licorice over a rustic earthiness, with hazelnut and shortbread (Cigar Aficionado, 89 points).
How It Smokes: The first third opens floral and woody, with a thread of licorice that sets the tone. In the middle a rustic earthiness rises beneath it, and the wide ring gives room for hazelnut to appear. Toward the finish shortbread joins the hazelnut and softens the earth. The draw is easy, though the reviewers saw some uneven combustion, so an occasional touch-up keeps the burn honest.
Blend Details: Esmeralda was one of three Trinidad launches added to the regular Habanos range in 2019, two of them entirely new vitolas. Like every Trinidad today it is made in Pinar del Río, totally by hand with long filler, wrapper and binder selected from Vuelta Abajo.
