Tabanero Momentum is a two-size maduro line: a Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper over fillers from Estelí, Condega and Jalapa, the three main growing regions of Nicaragua. Both cigars are dark, dense and steady.

The line holds the Momentum Robusto Maduro (5 x 50) and the Momentum Toro Maduro (6 x 52). The blend is the same in each, so the choice is about time and draw rather than flavour family. The robusto concentrates the smoke into a shorter sitting; the toro adds an inch and a slightly wider ring, which gives a longer, cooler smoke from the same leaf.

If you already enjoy dark wrappers, start with the toro for an evening, or the robusto when you have about an hour. If you are new to maduro, the robusto is the easier first step, since it shows the character of the San Andrés leaf without a long commitment. Both suit a coffee or a dark spirit afterwards.

For Tabanero's other dark blend, see Tabanero Nero, also built on a San Andrés wrapper. All the house's dark leaves sit together in Tabanero Maduro, and the full range is in Tabanero cigars at Habanora.
