AJ Fernandez cigars on this page are the blends we carry from the Nicaraguan maker, listed on their own. Today that is one release: the Gurkha Year of the Dragon 2024, a figurado made in Nicaragua by AJ Fernandez for Gurkha. It measures 6.62 x 52, with an Ecuadorian wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan filler.

Read this cigar from the outside in. The Ecuadorian wrapper gives the first impression and much of the aroma. The Nicaraguan binder and filler carry the body, and they place the cigar at the fuller end of the strength scale. The tapered figurado head focuses the opening draws, then the smoke widens as the burn reaches the full 52 ring. It suits a smoker who already enjoys full Nicaraguan tobacco and has time for a long sitting. Pair it with a still drink or coffee rather than anything sweet, so the tobacco leads.
