La Aurora 1962 Corojo is an Original Blends release that marks 1962, the year the house first adopted the Corojo wrapper. At Habanora this collection holds its Toro, 6 x 50.
A Dominican Corojo wrapper grown in the Cibao Valley covers an Ecuadorian binder, with Dominican and Nicaraguan filler. Expect cedar, roasted nuts, earth and pepper, with floral and leather accents and a gently sweet finish, at medium strength. The toro format gives the blend room to develop, which suits an afternoon or early evening when you want flavour without heavy strength. If you enjoy it, the other Original Blends releases follow the same idea, each marking the year a wrapper entered the house: the Connecticut 1987 for a lighter smoke and the Maduro 1985 for a darker one. Smoking the three side by side is a clear lesson in what a wrapper brings to a cigar.
