Arturo Fuente Añejo in Dubai arrives in small seasonal batches, and this collection holds four of its sizes. Carlos Fuente Jr. created Añejo after the 1998 hurricane interrupted the wrapper supply for OpusX. His answer was an aged Connecticut broadleaf maduro wrapper rested in Cognac barrels, over Dominican binder and filler, made in the Dominican Republic.
Releases come in limited batches, typically around Father's Day and the year-end holidays, so the sizes on the shelf change through the year. Choose by format. The No. 50 (5.25 x 50) is the robusto of the line and the natural first choice. The No. 55 (5.875 x 55) adds length and width for a fuller sitting. The No. 888 (6.875 x 44) is long and slim, and shows the wrapper most clearly. The No. 77 Shark (5.875 x 48/64) is the signature of the line: its square-pressed head is shaped entirely by hand and widens from a 48 to a 64 ring.
